‘Steve Jobs’ is now the name of an Italian clothing brand and Apple can do nothing about it

Trademark is an important aspect in almost every field. A pair of brothers have just won the right to name their clothing brand ‘Steve Jobs’ itself. It might sound hilarious but Apple can now do nothing about it.

The Italian brothers – Vincenzo and Giacomo Barbato – wanted to start a clothing brand and they saw an opportunity to name their brand ‘Steve Jobs’ when they discovered that Apple had not registered a trademark for the same.

According to a report from la Repubblica Napoli the legal fight started in 2012 and it went on until 2014 and included company’s logo – a ‘J’ with an Apple style leaf at the top of it in the footprint of the cutout what looks like the Apple logo itself. Apple argued that the missing portion of the cutout was way too similar to the missing bite in their logo, but the Italian courts decided it was not a bite as a letter is not edible.

The court barred the brothers to discuss the court victory until few weeks back when the trademark was finally issued to them.

‘Steve Jobs’ is not a tech-related brand. It currently produces a line of clothing but the brothers say they do have a plan to release electronics eventually. In a statement they said, “We are working on a line of highly innovative electronic devices, projects we have been working on for years,”

It seems obvious that Apple will have a close eye on whatever this company does in future. The brothers should expect more lawsuits in their way, considering the nature of Apple
