Just yesterday, DJ Koh (president of Samsung Mobile) himself confirmed that the next flagship device from Samsung is going to launch in MWC 2018.l And today, alleged Samsung Galaxy S9 retail box leak has revealed exciting details about the device.
The leaks started back in December when the Galaxy S9 passed FCC, confirming the retention of headphone jack. We’ve heard reports and seen renders of dual cameras, a proper fingerprint scanner placement, AKG earphones and so much more!
The picture shows the specs, as they are listed on the box, and there are a couple of things to be excited about.
Galaxy S9 to sport an even better camera and “Super Slow-Mo”
The camera is listed as a 12 MP shooter with an aperture of F1.5 / F2.4. The two different numbers could be for variable aperture – one that can mechanically open and close, kind of like on an actual dedicated camera. The tech isn’t just in theory, it is real. Samsung has the tech on a top-tier flip phone it sells in China. (And it costs about $3000).
Fun Fact – The Nokia N86 had variable aperture tech too.
Then we have “Super Slow Mo” which means we might finally see 1000fps videos. This is supposed to be Samsung’s answer to Sony’s own 960 FPS slow-motion mode.
Better Speakers and Sound
Moving down, the next point mentions “Stereo Speakers tuned by AKG”. This means that the dual speakers could end up sounding really awesome! Thanks to AKG.
At the bottom, we also have “Earphones tuned by AKG”. So along with the loud speakers, we could be getting quality earphones too.
Other specs include plenty of similarities to the current Galaxy S8. The screen will have a Super AMOLED panel with Quad HD+ resolution (1440 x 2960 pixels). The RAM will be 4 GB with 64 GB of internal storage. The selfie camera will be 8 MP with AF. (P.S. AF here means Auto Focus).
Mobile World Congress kicks off on February 26 so we aren’t too far away from the launch of Samsung Galaxy S9.
